A BRIEF INTRODUCTION

Healthcare today sits at the center of a perfect storm whose effects are inescapable for every living person of every age from infancy to death.

The tangled world of healthcare seems like an undecipherable riddle. What's wrong? Who's responsible? The suspects are everywhere.

Following the dearth of his only child, who died under mysterious circumstances at a U.S.-accredited hospital in Bangkok, Thailand, James R. Goldberg begins a three-and-a-half year intensive investigation to discover WHY?

The unimaginable paths he follows begin in Bangkok but quickly lead to discoveries of how vast and secreted corruption in the American medical industry have contributed to destroy "with self-interested greed and unbridled power" the greatest healthcare system the world has ever known.

THE BOOK

A telephone call from Bangkok brought the shocking news that the author's only child, Joshua, was dead. He was 23.

That call set in motion a cascade of shocking events and discoveries revealed by James R. Goldberg in The American Medical Money Machine: A double murder has occurred the murder of Joshua and the murder of medical care in the United States.

Recanting the details surrounding the death of his son, Goldberg quickly discovers that terrible forces are at play forces armed with money and power whose only ambitions are to cover up and protect the alleged perpetrators in the United States, half a globe away from the scene of the crime in Bangkok.

Goldberg's meticulous three-year examination covers every detail and every avenue available. The murders he investigates crystallize into shocking reality as Bumrungrad International Hospital, the Thai Police, Interpol and the United States Government all work to impede his search for the truth.

Frustrated after attempts in Thailand to find justice for his son are patently disregarded, he turns to other America authorities and organizations for assistance.

As finding help from home becomes more recalcitrant, Goldberg runs head on into The Joint Commission, a quasi-governmental agency charged with accrediting hospitals. The JC actively conceals information, obstructs justice and protects Bumrungrad, the very hospital they had accredited and are obligated to monitor and police.

Based on a tip, Goldberg expands his investigation into organ harvesting and trafficking. A completely new question arises: Was the motive for killing Josh the goldmine in his precious young organs? As Goldberg painstakingly traces organ-harvesting practices in South East Asia, mounting evidence points to organ theft as the motive for his son's murder.

The American Medical Money Machine interweaves two stories and brings us all to an intersection of understanding; the reasons why things are so bad with the U.S. health system and how the phenomena of Medical Tourism is being aggressively marketed as a solution.

Goldberg makes it clear that understanding the odious intentions of the Money Machine is the first step in making informed decisions about what to do next.

It is a matter of life and death.

Hot Topics Examined in
The American Medical Money Machine

1. The AARP is controlled secretly by UnitedHealthcare Group, one of the most corrupt medical insurance companies in the U.S.

2. UnitedHealthcare Group's largest shareholder and previous Chairman is a guy from Texas who owns a nationwide chain of pawnshops and check cashing companies. He is also in the business of loan sharking. The FBI has alluded to the relationship of Pawn Shops to money laundering and gun running. In other words the AARP members, unwittingly, are involved in a criminal racket.

3. The Joint Commission which accredits hospitals as being worthy of receiving Medicare payments, is dominated by private industry. Although chartered by the U.S. in 1965 to police the hospitals they accredit, they never do. Why? Money! Lots of it.

4. U.S. officials in charge of policing the healthcare industry do not. Once they leave government, if they have cooperated, go on to 7 figure positions or board seats with some of the biggest and dirtiest players in the industry.

5. Jeb Bush, George's brother, is on the Board of Tenet Hospitals-one of the most corrupt healthcare companies in the U.S. He used his position when both his father and brother were president to exact special favors for Tenet and other outlaw healthcare players.

6. The amount of corruption in the healthcare system exceeds the Pentagon budget! The U.S. DOJ who is supposed to police the healthcare industry recognizes $600billion in yearly fraud but collects only $750 million in fines.

7. Not one of the major corporate executives involved in healthcare fraud ever go to jail. Doctors, pharmacists, dentists etc, small time players, do time for their crimes, but never the big boys!

8. The same U.S. corporations who have been charged and sanctioned for Medicare and criminal fraud, have been working on establishing a network of hospitals internationally for the past 20 years. Now these hospitals, through the Joint Commission, are receiving accreditation (illegally) so that Medicare and private insurance will pay for treatment of U.S. Citizens.

9. Prices for procedures in the U.S. will be modeled against prices abroad. The insurance companies have consistently paid doctors less and many medical professionals have left medicine altogether leaving under qualified and inexperienced doctors, when they can be found, to take their places. Hence the U.S., formerly first in the world in 1965 in terms of medical care is now 40th and falling fast.

10. Human organ trafficking has become a big international business. The recent bust in New Jersey represents only a small part of a much bigger picture. People are killed for their organs to fill orders placed by wealthly people who travel to Thailand and other places, already tissue typed and matched with donors who are executed prisoners from China, starving families in India or perfectly healthly people who are killed while in the hospital in order that their freshly harvested organs can be immediately transplanted.

And this is only a small sampling of what is contained in The American Medical Money Machine.
